How to make Lion cupcakes (Part 4 of 4 Zoo Animal Tutorials)

Finally I’ve gotten around to making the fourth and last zoo animal cupcake! This one wasn’t too hard – especially after making the other animals (Panda, Tiger & Hippo) , they all seem to follow a similar pattern.

I started by colouring my white fondant a mixture of duck egg yellow and light brown (Americolor gel colours), rolling it out and cutting out a circle the same size as my cupcake.

Roll out the same colour fondant into a ball for the mouth. Shape into a triangle and flatten slightly.

Using a blunt knife, make three incisions for the mouth/nose.

Stick onto the cupcake and using a toothpick, make dots on the cheeks/

Make two indents for the eyes and attach white and black circles and also a black triangle for the nose.

Make indents up the top for the ears. Roll out two teardrop shapes and press with a ball tool. Stick onto the cupcake.

Roll out some dark brown fondant into teardrop shapes for the mane.

Glue around the cupcake to finish off the lion 🙂
