How to make baby converse shoes from fondant

Inspired by Pastrychik’s gorgeous Elmo baby converse shoes I decided to give them a crack and see how I went!!

Apologies for the lack of quality photos…I was focusing on doing the videos instead!

The template can be found hereย

The shoes were a lot easier than I thought – I will definitely be giving them another go as they’re a perfect cake topper for a baby shower or birthday cake.

Hello! I am a huge fan of your tutorials. You’re a great inspiration! I can’t wait to give this tutorial a try. I was wondering what the tool you used to make the long spaghetti like strips was? I’ve never seen it before but it could come in handy for a lot of things! Would love to buy one if I can find it online or in stores somewhere?

      Hi Jackie ๐Ÿ™‚

Thankyou for your lovely message. The tool is called a ‘sugar shaper’ and I bought it from the UK here

It comes in handy ALL THE TIME!!!! Seriously I use it heaps, for getting a piped look (my handbag cake) and for making hair on figurines and even to make a ribbon edging on a cake. Good value for money!

      All the best!
