How to make a lego cake

I made this lego cake for the winner of my 1000 likers giveaway and thought I’d create a tutorial given lego is such a popular party theme for girls and boys. We are huge lego fans in our house and I think I need to buy shares in lego with the amount we have spent 🙂

Ninjago cake

To begin, cover your cake with green fondant and colour your other fondant in yellow, blue & red and start cutting out strips

Cut the strips into rectangles and start attaching to the cake using some water

Keep going until you’ve covered the entire side of the cake

Next step is to attach the small green dots to the top like the lego board (and yes – I realise that my lego cake makes absolutely no sense!!!! There really shouldn’t be the green dots on top of the cake… they should be the coloured dots from the lego pieces…whoops!)

I then used some tappits for the name and made some little fondant lego pieces using this tutorial. The tutorial for the Ninjago topper is here.

Hi,loved your lego tutorial it’s awesome, but I don’t think u made the mistake with the top of the cake ,coz when u r building something with lego you see the dots only if the lego is not covered with other lego,so ur making a lego cylinder and covering it Legos green plate which is generally used as base plate

      Hi Elton

In my video I show you how I use some aluminium flashing to make a small circle cutter for those dots. Hope that helps!
