My review of dish’d and a giveaway!

This product talk post is brought to you by Nuffnang and dish’d

I was thrilled to road test some gourmet frozen food from dish’d, a new service that has launched this year which is designed to the remove the stigma behind frozen meals and provide delicious food, ready when you are!

dish’d is a provider of high quality frozen meal solutions, available to experience online and dish’d enables you to taste delicious food from around the world in the comfort of your own home. Thoughtfully created by reputable chefs from around the world (Jacques Reymond anyone???!!!), they start by sourcing the best ingredients to create delicious meal solutions for everyone.

This opportunity came at a perfect time for me – usually each year I attend a girls Christmas lunch out, however due to the craziness of life at the moment I had to cancel. Instead I decided to order some of the dish’d party food and host a girls tasting session and champagne night at my place!

dish’d has a variety of meal solutions and you can search based on the meal type (ie breakfast, lunch, dinner, starters etc), meal components (seafood, pasta, meat) or on occasion (weekday dinners, party time, tea break) which made it very easy for me to choose some party food.

I ordered the following dishes which arrived the next day in this great cooler box with dry ice (which was fantastic because I had no freezer room so it stayed frozen until the following day when I cooked it)

  • Prawn Baguettes
  • Vegetable & Mushroom cones
  • Squid skewers
  • Coquilles St Jacques Au Champagne (?? I hear you ask? Yep.. me too. But these were yummy scallops in a butter, champagne and cheese sauce)
  • Potato spun vegetable balls
  • Thai prawn money bags
  • Thai fish cakes
  • Marinated scallops
  • Vegetable spring rolls
  • Premium meatballs
  • Chorizo and Bacon croquettes
  • Chocolate Ganache & Salted caramel tart
  • Citrus Tart

And here was my gorgeous taste testing team!

And what was the verdict?? Apart from the squid dish that got the thumbs down, my taste testing team was blown away by the quality of the food. Comments such as:

“It tastes homemade”

“There is hardly any rubbish or crap in the ingredients” (haha – my friends are so eloquent!)

“It doesn’t taste frozen”

Most of the products were rated between a 7-9 out of ten with the standout dishes being the lemon tart, the mushroom cones and the prawn moneybags. At $14, the lemon tart is definitely something I will be storing in my freezer for times when I need a quick dessert that tastes homemade

I’d make a night of it and do an Italian theme for my kids. Yummy pizza and pasta dishes I’d serve them, dressed up as a waiter (with fake moustache!) and give them some facts about Italy, so they learn in a fun way!

Through my community involvement I’m in touch with D______who’s just been laid off from his part time cleaning job and S_____ who has been looking for a job for the last six weeks. If I was given the $50 dish’d voucher I’d order those delicious looking Italian pasta meals and make these two families happy in this hectic yet giving time of the year.

Dinner meals for sure! I’ve just had a baby and so this would be a great way to feed the family more than just baked beans for dinner. LOL

Definately the Vegetarian lasagne – we have a teenage frequent visitor who is the lone Vegetarian diner in her family, so it’s always fun to try and cater for them when they come to dinner! It would be terrific to have something dinner party worthy on standby to serve her when she comes

I’d create a dessert tasting plate with the chocolate petits fours and the profiteroles a la creme. I’d take them over to my in laws place on Christmas Day and claim them as my own

Ooo, those vegetable and mushroom cones look delicious, and much healthier than what I usually enjoy in a cone… to make up for that, I’d add on the Chocolate Prague cake for dessert. Yum!

This looks like such a great service, thanks for the info and the chance to win 🙂
