You know the best thing about potatoes is, it just goes with everything.
The first thought that comes to my mind when I hear the word potatoes is fries, obviously! And after that so many mouth- watering dishes like potato chips, garlic smashed potatoes,sweet potato pie , potato soups, potato pancakes and the list is never ending.
I just read somewhere ‘Haters gonna hate, potatoes gonna potate.’
This means you can’t stop people from doing what they do best. ( This is true ).
Now back to potato dishes.
When potatoes are cooked ,they taste heavenly but what about undercooked potatoes?Think,think!
Do you remember how our parents and doctors used to tell us that raw vegetables like tomato salad,lettuce salad, carrots and radish are so good for our health and they are super nutritious and the same goes with fruits like apples,pears,grapes etc.

Raw potatoes and Undercooked potatoes are different.In undercooked potatoes , the starches are broken down but not completely which makes them better than raw potatoes to consume. It is not safe to eat undercooked potatoes like cooked potatoes.Eating raw potatoes is not considered normal because they are difficult to digest and lead to vomiting , bloating and constipation.
Raw and undercooked potatoes taste awful.Trust me guys,it can ruin your mood.I was making some potato dish and it turned out to be undercooked.That was slightly bitter and so starchy.It was kind of crunchy too in a bad way. Raw potatoes contain a toxic compound known as glycoalkaloids.
We can’t consume raw potatoes because of glycoalkaloids.Overuse of glycoalkaloids can cause bloating , stomachache, vomiting , dysentery and in serious cases fever.

You can remove glycoalkaloids from potatoes by boiling them properly. Boiling or baking reduces the glycoalkaloids amount from potatoes making them completely safe to eat.
Now,I am going to tell you that Can you eat undercooked potatoes.
The answer is straight No. But why?
- Undercooked potatoes aren’t so toxic but they contain loads of starch which is not good for our body.
- Research proves that raw potatoes contain solanine which is a toxic compound and it is very harmful for your body.
- Uncooked potatoes not just taste bitter, it may disrupt your digestive system and also leads to stomach ache , vomiting , dysentery and constipation.
- Undercooked potatoes contain glycoalkaloids. It can turn out to be very toxic if you take it in large amounts.
- It can ruin your food taste because undercooked potatoes are crunchy in a bad way.
- It is very difficult for our body to digest raw or undercooked
potatoes.So,try to avoid eating undercooked potatoes.

How to fix undercooked potatoes?
If you know ,you haven’t boiled them properly and they are left undercooked, try to boil them with low flame.Switch off the flame after 10 minutes and keep the potatoes in the same condition for next 10 minutes.
- Milk or Cheese technique
This works when your dish is completely ready and you get to know that potatoes are undercooked.Add some cheese in the dish and keep the flame low and switch it off after 15 minutes.
Baking solves literally every problem.All you need to do is to set the microwave temperature (must be moderate) and then bake the potatoes for next 15 minutes and eat those tasty potatoes.
