This is done at high temperatures usually around 300°F and usually involves submerging the food into the oil.

You can deep fry a turkey at about 250 degrees. It depends on what type of turkey you buy. A whole frozen turkey needs to be thawed completely before you can deep fry it. Make sure to remove the giblets from the cavity of the bird. Remove any stuffing from the body cavity. Then place the turkey breast side down on a cutting board. Using a sharp knife, cut along each side of the backbone, being careful not to puncture the skin. Next, using poultry shears, cut along either side of the spine bone, making sure to cut through the meat but not the skin. This allows the turkey to lie flat while you continue to cut off the legs and wings. Once you have removed the legs and wings, turn the turkey breast side up and carefully remove the neck and wishbone. Now you can begin to separate the leg quarters from the thighs. Cut the thigh away from the drumstick, keeping the drumstick attached. Repeat this process for the other leg. After removing the legs, cut the wing tips off. Place the turkey into a shallow dish and pour enough oil into the bottom of the pan to come halfway up the sides of the turkey. Heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350 degrees F 175 degrees C. Carefully lower the turkey into the hot oil and let it cook for 20 minutes. Check the temperature every 5 minutes after the first 10 minutes. Turn the turkey over and cook for another 15 minutes. Remove the turkey from the oil and drain on paper towels. Let the turkey rest for 30 minutes before serving.
