Keurig has been around since 1978 and has become a household name. The company makes single serve coffee makers that use K-cups. They also make other types of machines such as espresso machines, ice cream makers, and even a few different types of coffeemakers.
One thing that Keurig does extremely well is their Keurig Descale light. This machine is designed to keep your coffee hot for hours at a time. However, if you have a Keurig Descale that keeps staying on after you turn it off, there is a way to fix it.
If you want to learn how to fix your Keurig Descale, read on.
The first question we need to ask ourselves when dealing with the Keurig descale light is why would this be happening in the first place? There are several reasons why the keurig descale light could stay on.
This happens because the machine needs a bit of time to do what it needs to do and something is being put into it. The sounds the Keurig makes are telling you that it is done.
The first thing you will notice is that the descale light stays on, which means that the coffee maker can make a weak or inconsistent cup of coffee.
You may notice that the water doesn’t completely drain from the tank. You could even hear a faint gurgling noise. The most common cause of these symptoms is a blocked filter.
Also, Some people may not know what they’re doing or just don’t care about keeping their coffee warm. Others might forget to switch the unit back on before leaving home. Still others might leave the house without turning off the power completely.
You will need to descale your coffee machine if there are no obstructions in the needle or anywhere else. It is easy to do this with the descaling solution that Keurig sells. You need to care for it because it contains citric acid.
There are some steps to take to descale your coffee machine.
Turn off your coffee machine.
It’s time to empty the water storage area.
The water filter needs to be removed from your K-Cups.
Remove any Pod that is inside of your machine.
As per instructions on the bottle, use the descaling solution inside the machine to clear any build-up.
Now turn on the machine and put your coffee cup underneath the machine.
All descaling solution goes through if you run the coffee machine through.
Disregard the solution coming out of the sink.
The scaling solution should be left in the tank for 30 minutes to an hour so that it can soak in the tank and work its magic.
Once all the scaling solution is taken out of the water reservoir, you can refill it with fresh water.
Run a full water storage facility to get rid of the solution. Do this 12 times and this is how you should make sure there isn’t any leftover of the descaling solution.
There you have it. It’s the easiest way to scale your machine. However, there is also another way that we have used. If you prefer a different way, we can descale your Keurig using a solution of acetic acid and water. Personally, I prefer to use a solution that does not have the health warnings of the solution, but this is a good one to use if you have never descaled your K Cup machine.
When cleaning the exit needle, you want to remove as much debris as possible. This includes anything that has been stuck inside of the exit needle.
To clean the exit needle, you’ll need to unscrew the top cap. Then, pull up on the lever until it releases. Once the lever is released, push down on the lever again. Now, you can see the entire length of the exit needle. Remove the needle by pulling it straight. Be careful when removing the needle. There is a small chance that something could fall into the machine.
After you’ve cleaned the exit needle, replace the top cap. Make sure that everything is tight. Also, check to ensure that nothing fell into the machine while you were cleaning it.
The Keurig descale works by using an internal heating element to heat up water in order to brew your favorite cup of joe or tea. When you are finished brewing, just press the button again to stop the process. If you leave this machine running when you go out of the house, then it will continue to heat up the water until you come back home.
This can be very convenient because you don’t need to worry about having enough cups available while you are away from home. You simply put some fresh ground beans into the brewer and hit start. Once you return home, all you do is push the button one more time to finish making your drink.
However, sometimes the Keurig descalers stay on longer than they should. In fact, many people report that these lights stay on for days at a time without them ever turning themselves off. While this may seem like a good idea, it actually isn’t.
You shouldn’t descale your Keurig every day. Instead, you should only do it once a week. This allows the system to cool down before starting over again. The reason why you want to wait between each cycle is because the Keurig has a built-in timer which automatically turns itself off after 60 seconds. So, if you were to keep pressing the button continuously, you would eventually burn out the heater.
The descale light can be used to remind you to keep your coffee maker clean and safe to use. If your machine does not turn off, you need to deep clean it, and if you don’t, you could miss some gunk or dirt inside.
